"The investigative commission is a malicious circus performance, primarily focused on discrediting the country and persecuting political opponents! We see examples of this persecution in Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze. The persecution of opponents is their signature move," said Levan Samushia, a member of "Lelo - Strong Georgia," during the "Day’s Newsroom" program on PalitraNews.
As Levan Samushia stated, the temporary investigative commission examining the activities of the "United National Movement" is directed against the country’s interests.
"We know that this parliament is illegitimate; a certain group of individuals gathered and called themselves a parliament. These self-proclaimed figures created an investigative commission.
First: This investigative commission is aimed against the country’s and Georgia’s national interests, seeking to discredit Georgia.
Second: It is intended for the persecution of political opponents. Who are their main political opponents? - 'Lelo - Strong Georgia' and its leaders, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze. They claim that possible crimes committed during the 'United National Movement' era should be investigated. What do Badri Japaridze and Mamuka Khazaradze have to do with the 'United National Movement'? Less than a year had passed under their rule when our party leaders were already targets of persecution. Mamuka Khazaradze was repeatedly summoned for questioning, and a criminal case was launched against him. If anyone had committed a crime, where were they all these years? What were they doing? They control the investigative structures and the judiciary—so where were they?
This is a malicious circus performance aimed at discrediting the country and persecuting political opponents! This is outright persecution, and we see clear examples of it in Mamuka Khazaradze.
Mamuka Khazaradze has stated that he is ready to answer any questions at any time, even within their controlled investigative system. The so-called money laundering case, which was fabricated, collapsed on them. The European Court of Human Rights even prioritized this case. The persecution of political opponents is their signature move. This is evident in their actions against our party leaders, and we can see it clearly," said Samushia.
