Tea Tsulukiani: We are waiting for Givi Targamadze’s response on whether he will attend the Commission session - Otherwise, we will vote on referring his case to the Prosecutor’s Office

The parliamentary temporary investigative commission examining the activities of the former government of the “United National Movement” is awaiting a response from politician Givi Targamadze on whether he will attend the investigative commission session on April 8 to answer questions. Otherwise, a vote will be held on referring his case to the Prosecutor’s Office, said Tea Tsulukiani, the chairperson of the commission.

As she explained, a plenary session of Parliament will be held on Friday, during which the commission’s session cannot take place. This is followed by the weekend and the Annunciation holiday, meaning that the investigative commission’s session cannot be held on those days.

Therefore, according to Tea Tsulukiani, they will wait for Givi Targamadze’s response, and the session will resume on April 8.

“I propose that we wait for Mr. Givi Targamadze’s response. Anything can happen in life—someone might fall ill or have an objective reason for not attending, etc. However, if no such reason is presented by Tuesday, we will discuss his case at the beginning of the session and vote on whether to refer it to the Prosecutor’s Office,” stated Tea Tsulukiani.

To recall, the politician recently shared a document on social media, which states that he has been summoned by the temporary investigative commission studying the activities of the former government of the “United National Movement.” According to the document, the commission is requesting Givi Targamadze to provide explanations regarding the state of defense, security, and human rights protection in Georgia between 2004 and 2012. In response, Givi Targamadze wrote on Facebook that he does not intend to appear before the temporary investigative commission established in Parliament.
