Officers from the Gldani-Nadzaladevi, Vake-Saburtalo, Old Tbilisi, and Isani-Samgori divisions of the Tbilisi Police Department, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, have arrested six individuals on drug-related charges as a result of various operational and investigative activities conducted at different times.
This information was released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the ministry, the crimes are punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
"The individuals were arrested for the illegal purchase, possession, and distribution—or attempted distribution—of large and especially large quantities of various types of narcotic substances, including marijuana. The suspects are: M.K., born in 1996; foreign nationals K.R., born in 2007, and M.B., born in 1990; and previously convicted individuals Z.A., born in 1984; L.N., born in 1995; and G.K., born in 1994.
The crimes are punishable by up to 20 years or life in prison.
On the basis of a court order, the police carried out multiple controlled purchases of drugs from the suspects, along with covert audio and video recordings of these transactions.
During searches of the suspects’ persons, homes, and locations identified by them, police seized as evidence narcotic substances including heroin, methadone, mephedrone, buprenorphine, alpha-PVP, and marijuana. The drugs sold illegally were also confiscated as evidence.
During a search of G.K.'s residence, law enforcement also found a total of 15,515 euros, 15,500 U.S. dollars, and 6,550 GEL—presumably proceeds from drug sales.
The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260, 19-260, 18-260, 273¹, and 19-273¹ of the Criminal Code," the statement said.
