"This period can be considered one of the most difficult in Georgia's recent history, during which the country was able to achieve peaceful and secure development under the leadership and course set by the Government of Georgia — and we, too, laid a brick in strengthening peace and security," said former Head of the State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili, in his address to the employees of the agency.
This information was released by the government administration.
According to the same source, Grigol Liluashvili, together with the new head of the service, wished success to the employees of the State Security Service.
"I want to thank you for the fact that throughout these years, in the face of great challenges, we were able to overcome everything together. Of course, there were critical situations, as well as calm and peaceful periods, but overall, this period can indeed be considered one of the most difficult in Georgia’s recent history, when the country managed peaceful and secure development. This, of course, happened under the leadership of the Government of Georgia and the path it followed — and we each contributed a brick to strengthening peace and security. This is your achievement, and I want to express my deep gratitude. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this process with you — to participate and to lead this highly honorable and patriotic agency.
I also want to thank the Prime Minister. I am very pleased that he presented Mr. Anri Okhanashvili as my successor. Mr. Anri was a member of the Trust Group, he was involved in discussions on topics related to us, and through that cooperation, he also carried out parliamentary oversight of our agency. In addition to his personal and professional qualities, he is by no means unfamiliar with the specifics of our work. He is well acquainted with the aspects of our activities, our main directions, and priorities, and I want to wish Mr. Anri and his deputies much success," said Grigol Liluashvili.
