The court has set a 50,000 GEL bail for Badri Japaridze

Badri Japaridze, one of the leaders of "Lelo - Strong Georgia," who is accused of failing to fulfill the request of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Georgian Parliament, has been set a bail of 50,000 GEL as a preventive measure.

This decision was made by Tbilisi City Court judge Eka Barbakadze. According to her ruling, the deadline for paying the bail is set to 50 days.

During today’s court session, the preventive measure for Japaridze was discussed. The state prosecution requested the application of a 50,000 GEL bail, while the defense argued for leaving Japaridze without any preventive measure. The defendant himself attended the hearing.

For the record, Badri Japaridze was summoned for clarification at the session of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Georgian Parliament on March 25, where he did not appear. After this, Japaridze gave testimony before a magistrate judge.

After the questioning, Badri Japaridze was charged under Article 349 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to the "failure to fulfill the request of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Georgian Parliament." This action is punishable by a fine, imprisonment for up to one year, or the deprivation of the right to hold office or engage in activities for up to three years.
