"Stop hiding behind Erekle’s portrait! What do you have in common with him?! Erekle fought the enemy and defended the country, while you serve the enemy and leave Georgia alone and defenseless!" — said Paata Manjgaladze, the Secretary General of Strategy Aghmashenebeli, addressing representatives of Georgian Dream.
According to him, Georgian Dream representatives "love the content and consequences of the Treaty of Georgievsk, not Erekle II."
"You don’t love Erekle — you love the Treaty of Georgievsk... especially everything that followed it: the abolition of Kartli and Kakheti, the destruction of the monarchy, the abolition of the Church's autocephaly, the transfer of the Patriarch to Russia, repainting of churches, suppression of the Georgian language, occupation of the country, and the punishment of every attempt to break free from the Russian yoke!
By the way, the communists also celebrated the anniversaries of this treaty with great pomp. Why? Because for them too, it symbolized submission, slavery, and leaving Georgia alone with Russia," said Paata Manjgaladze.
