On the eve of national unity aay, France pays tribute to the memory of the Georgian women and men who were killed by the Soviet army on April 9, 1989, fighting for freedom and independence, reads a statement issued by the French Embassy in Georgia.

“France continues to stand by the Georgian people in their aspirations for independence, democracy and Europe,” reads the statement, which the French Embassy posted on Facebook.
