"April 9 is one of the darkest days in our country’s recent history, and ideally, we should all stand together — regardless of political affiliation or personal preferences," writes the leader of the party "Gakharia for Georgia," Giorgi Gakharia, on social media.
According to Gakharia, we all have a duty before the heroes who died on April 9 to fight for freedom and genuine peace.
"April 9 is one of the most painful days in the recent history of our country, and ideally, we should all stand united, regardless of political affiliation or taste.
However, even after all these years, people are still victims of injustice, oppression, and violence — and the enemy continues to achieve its goals. At a time when we most need unity, we are more divided than ever.
Those who gave their lives for the independence of this country would be the last to want to see this.
This day once again reminds us of Merab Kostava’s parting words: that we must never stop fighting for freedom, because the real struggle begins after freedom is won — the struggle to preserve it.
We all have a duty before them to fight for freedom, to fight for true peace, and to finally and irreversibly complete the mission started by the national movement," writes Giorgi Gakharia.
