Mamuka Khazaradze: We are obliged to protect the legacy of April 9! We are obliged not to give this country to Russia!

Today is April 9 – the most important date in Georgia’s recent history! A date of double meaning – of mourning and victory – and that is why we are obliged to protect their legacy!

We are obliged not to give this country to Russia! We are obliged to fight to the end – until victory, – writes Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of Lelo – For Strong Georgia, on social media.

According to him, April 9 is the starting point of the birth of the Georgian state, for which 21 heroes gave their lives, bringing independence to the country.

"Today is April 9… the most important date in Georgia’s recent history! A date of double meaning – mourning and victory!

April 9 is the beginning of the birth of the Georgian state, to which 21 heroes sacrificed their lives, and through this, brought us independence.

For 36 years we have repeated these names with painful pride, because along with deep trauma, they left every next generation with a historical memory – that the struggle for freedom is a continuous process, and that it is the foremost duty of every citizen of Georgia.

That is why we are obliged to protect their legacy!

We are obliged not to give this country to Russia!

We are obliged to fight to the end – until victory," Khazaradze writes.
