“Today, Georgian Dream doesn’t even dare to mention the Russians – as if it were Martians who invaded this country and butchered people 36 years ago. That so-called ‘foreign force’ had a very specific name back then – Soviet Russia,” said opposition politician Gigi Ugulava during an ongoing rally on Rustaveli Avenue, speaking to journalists.
According to him, April 9 is a day of struggle and freedom.
In response to a question about why government officials did not go to the April 9 memorial, Ugulava answered: “They were afraid.”
“These people are capable of anything, but on April 9, they feared facing their own people’s bloodshed on Rustaveli Avenue.
They realized that they could only push back these people and the grieving parents with brutal force.
They understood that this kind of force would cross all boundaries and eventually come back at them.
They were simply afraid – nothing more.
They have no sense of reverence or shame. This is just raw fear – fear that what they’re doing will come back to haunt them,” said Ugulava.
