To assess the needs of the population temporarily displaced from Abkhazia, meetings are continuing across various regions of Georgia.
According to the press service of the Government of Abkhazia, Giorgi Datuashvili, Head of the Department for Relations and Administration with Government Bodies and Citizens within the Government of Abkhazia’s administration, visited the regions of Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti on the instruction of Levan Mgaloblishvili, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia. There, he familiarized himself with the conditions in the settlements of internally displaced persons.
“In Kopitnari, with the support of the local self-government, drainage channels are being constructed, which will protect the residential areas of displaced people from flooding during heavy rainfall.
The department head also visited the town of Oni, where he met with families temporarily displaced from Abkhazia, assessed their needs on site, and provided information about the Government of Abkhazia’s programs for the current year.
Giorgi Datuashvili also held a working meeting with the head and staff of the regional representation of Imereti, Guria, Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti, as well as the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and with the heads of homeowners’ associations. During the meeting, they discussed future projects and conducted trainings to introduce the electronic portal implemented by the Government of Abkhazia,” the statement reads.
