Giorgi Gakharia: We are preparing for the local elections

For Georgia Chairman Giorgi Gakharia says his party is preparing for the local elections. Gakharia made the relevant statement on TV Pirveli.

In addition, Gakharia explained that he is not ready to decide today whether to participate in the local elections or not, although he is preparing for the municipal elections, as well as for the new parliamentary elections.

Gakharia advises other political parties to mind their own business, as he believes that the opposition parties are waiting for Gakharia to announce his decision and be the first to receive a political blow so that they can act.

"We have said many times that any political party should always prepare for any election. I am not saying anything new. We are all trying together today to achieve parliamentary elections. Accordingly, we - these parliamentary elections will be held together, before the municipal elections... If they are not held before the municipal elections, do you think that after the municipal elections, new parliamentary elections will be removed from the agenda? - It will not be removed. Accordingly, people who have their own political decisions to make and are watching when Gakharia will say it first, he will take the first political blow and then we will follow, everyone should mind their own business. I am saying one thing: we are preparing for any next election, because when you are a political party, you have to be ready for the elections, this is how we act," Gakharia said.

To the question of the presenter, Inga Grigolia: "So you are now preparing for the local self-government elections, will you participate in these elections?", Gakharia replied: "We are now preparing for the parliamentary and local elections together, in October".

After that, the presenter asked him, "Suppose they are not appointed together?", to which Gakharia said that "If so, then we will decide whether we will participate or not".

To the clarifying question whether he is categorically refusing, Gakharia said:

"Of course, we are not saying, of course I am not saying, I am not categorically refusing, no one can force us to do so, because it is up to us and our voters to decide."

According to him, he is not ready to make a categorical decision on whether to participate in the elections today.

"We may participate, we may not participate, I am not ready to make this decision today," - Gakharia said.

To another remark, whether he suspects that all four parties that crossed the threshold, including his, will participate in the elections, Gakharia replied, "I suspect most of them" and added:

"I'm telling you about myself, it's simple, yes, we are preparing. I confirm that we are preparing for the municipal elections."

His response was followed by the host's remark, "If new parliamentary elections are not held before then, is there a chance that you will participate in the elections?" to which Gakharia replied, "Of course, there is a chance."
