Mamuka Khazaradze: Silencing an artist is only desired where there is fear of the truth, and that is a dictatorship!

Silencing an artist is only desired where there is fear of the truth, and that is a dictatorship! – My support goes to Doi! – wrote the leader of the "Strong Georgia" coalition, Mamuka Khazaradze, on social media.

He was responding to the decision by the Ministry of Culture to dismiss Davit Doiashvili from his position as the head of the Vaso Abashidze Music and Drama Theatre.

"Silencing an artist is only desired where there is fear of the truth, and that is a dictatorship! My support goes to Doi!" Khazaradze wrote.

For context, in explaining the reasons behind Doiashvili’s dismissal, the Ministry of Culture stated that despite "repeated warnings" from the agency, the leadership of the "Vaso Abashidze State Professional Theatre of Musical Comedy and Drama" failed to fulfill obligations outlined in its founding goals, and that the creative process in the theater had been halted for several months.
