The court has set bail in the amount of 30,000 GEL as a preventive measure for Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the "Coalition for Change."
The decision was made by Judge Eka Barbakadze, who fully satisfied the prosecution’s motion.
For context, the case concerns an investigation launched on the grounds of “failure to comply with the lawful demand of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Parliament of Georgia.” Gvaramia failed to appear before the commission, after which he was summoned to give testimony before a magistrate judge.
Nika Gvaramia has been charged under Article 349 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to “noncompliance with the request of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Parliament of Georgia.” The offense is punishable by a fine or imprisonment for up to one year, along with a possible disqualification from holding office or engaging in professional activities for up to three years.
