The list of those sanctioned will be expanded unequivocally, Georgia will have more sanctioned high-ranking officials - and the content of the sanctions will also be expanded, - said Grigol Gegelia, one of the leaders of the Strong Georgia coalition.
According to him, both the European Union and the United States will expand the list of sanctions.
"Georgia will have more sanctioned high-ranking officials, and not only high-ranking officials, but also all actors who feed the regime of these criminals. The list will be expanded both in the direction of the European Union and the United States. Also, the content of the sanctions will be expanded and will not be limited to visa travel sanctions. There will be more measures of a financial and economic nature," - said Gegelia.
In addition, he spoke about visa liberalization and stated that the use of “this privilege” has been called into question due to the policy of the Georgian Dream.
“Unfortunately, due to the policy pursued by the Georgian Dream, all the fundamental achievements and gains that our state and our society have today are at risk, including the possibility of visa-free travel to the European Union. This is, first of all, a very important privilege that we were granted as a friendly nation, as a partner state, and maintaining this privilege means doing many things right, including protecting human rights, maintaining high standards of democracy and the rule of law, and being in line with all the universal ideals that the European Union and the international community have. Since the Georgian Dream clearly and blatantly violates and destroys all these ideas in Georgia, this is why the question naturally arose whether Georgia deserves to continue visa liberalization, to have this privilege. Therefore, the responsibility lies fully with the Georgian Dream government," said Gegelia.
