There was a scuffle between Saba Skhirtladze's acquaintances and representatives of the school security service

At the trial of Saba Skhirtladze, who was detained during the protest, there was a scuffle between his acquaintances and representatives of the school security service during a 15-minute break announced by the judge to ensure that the defendant’s family members could enter the courtroom.

Skhirtladze’s acquaintances confronted the security service employees, demanding that the “large number of mobilized police officers” be removed from the courtroom and replaced with the detainee’s relatives.

“There are two or three rows of seats in the courtroom occupied by police officers, which is unnecessary,” said the defendant’s acquaintances.

Judge Jvebe Nachkebia responded to the incident that took place in the courtroom:

“The previous hearings were constructive. I understand the friends and family, and I also understand that the case is sensitive. I also understand, considering the complaints Saba has and your grievances towards law enforcement or other individuals, it’s very difficult to manage emotions. I kindly ask that we continue the hearing in a calm manner, just as we had been doing,” the judge said, adding that he is doing his best to refrain from taking “appropriate measures.”

It is worth noting that an additional group from the court security service was brought into the courtroom. Together with police officers, they attempted to de-escalate the situation.

At this time, the trial has resumed. Investigator Salome Edisherashvili is currently giving testimony.
