Irakli Zarkua to the opposition: Someone should gather you all up, put you in a big chest labeled: 'Without a homeland, without dignity, without principles, losers,' and throw it into the ocean — that would be your end

“How is it possible that just yesterday and the day before, they spent the entire day insulting, saying ‘we won’t meet, we don’t care,’ and now today — every single one of them, the Bokuchava, Gakharia, Samadashvili, Khazaradze — are lining up and racing each other to meet with the [OSCE Secretary General]? That’s your morality — which is immoral,” said Georgian Dream MP Irakli Zarkua to journalists.

According to him, the opposition “should be gathered together by someone, put in a large chest labeled: ‘homeless, shameless, unprincipled losers,’ and thrown into the ocean.”

“The OSCE Secretary General met with our leaders — the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, the President. These radicals were saying, ‘some guy with a strange name and unclear function came — we won’t meet him, we don’t care, it’s not legitimate.’ Legitimacy was given to us by the Georgian people in elections — we don’t seek it abroad. This visit was yet another emphasis that yes, Georgia is an important country, both in the region and globally. That’s why there’s focus on Georgia. This man voiced the same approaches we’ve been talking about — peace and stability…

And now what’s happening? How is it that just yesterday and the day before they were cursing and refusing to meet, and today every one of them — Bokuchavas, Gakharias, Samadashvilis, Khazaradzes — are fighting to meet with the [OSCE Secretary General]? Don’t you have any self-respect left, or even a trace of humanity? What are your handlers making you do? What are you, what kind of breed are you — can someone explain to me? Shouldn’t you at least stick to some principle or value? Yesterday you were insulting this man, saying it was just a technical meeting and irrelevant — and today some are individually requesting meetings, others are coming as a group — practically breaking each other’s noses just to meet him. That’s your morality — which is immoral.

You should all be gathered by someone, put in a big chest labeled: ‘homeless, shameless, unprincipled losers,’ and thrown into the ocean. That would be your end, and that’s what Georgian society will do to you in the local elections,” Zarkua stated.

For context: representatives of opposition parties met with OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioğlu. The meeting was jointly attended by members of Lelo – For Strong Georgia and Unity – National Movement. As for For Georgia (Gakharia’s party), according to reports, their representatives met with the OSCE Secretary General earlier. Meanwhile, representatives of the Coalition for Change announced they would not attend the meeting, stating that “clarity and consistency are essential for defeating the regime and achieving the historic goal of the Georgian people.”
