I would like to wish you health, strength, fortitude and victory, - Mikhel Kavelashvili said in his speech at the event dedicated to the Day of the Defense Forces.
According to him, today the Georgian Defense Forces are developing progressively, in accordance with modern standards.
"Today is a special day, the Georgian Defense Forces have turned 34. I congratulate everyone on this most important date, especially our proud army, generals, officers, sergeants, privates - this day belongs to you, to each brave and professional soldier who defends the independence, peace and freedom of the homeland. Military service requires courage, professionalism and patriotism, each of you is an example of heroism and dedication. You are the solid pillar on which the freedom, sovereignty and peaceful future of our state stand. With the restoration of Georgia's independence, important steps have been taken towards the formation and development of the Georgian army. Since the day of its establishment, throughout its 34-year history, the Defense Forces have worthily defended the territorial integrity and freedom of Georgia in all wars and battles, for which I bow to each military serviceman.
With special respect, I would like to address our veterans, those people who dedicated the best years of their lives to the defense of our country. You still maintain a strong spirit and teach future generations to love their homeland. With great gratitude, we remember the wounded and injured fighters who made an immeasurable contribution to Georgia. Your strength, fortitude and love for the homeland are a source of inspiration for each of us. I bow to the memory of our heroic soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Georgia. Their names will always remain in the history of Georgia as heroes who, at the cost of their own lives, preserved our dignity and national identity.
