At the conference of judges, Supreme Court judge Levan Mikaberidze was elected as a judge member of the High Council of Justice.

Levan Murusidze, a judge of the Court of Appeal and a member of the High Council of Justice announced the above after the conference. According to him, the conference elected Mikaberidze to the position with 290 votes, with no objection.

It is worth noting that the election of a new judge member of the High Council of Justice became necessary after Judge Levan Nadaraia left the council and became the Chairman of the Constitutional Court.

As for why Nadaraia left the High Council of Justice, Murusidze states that “being a judge of the Constitutional Court is a very honorable position, and accordingly, Rezo Nadaraia made the decision.”

As he noted, Judge Rezo Nadaraia was nominated to the Constitutional Court by the Plenum of the Supreme Court.

“Rezo Nadaraia, who was a member of the High Council of Justice, was nominated to the Constitutional Court by the Plenum of the Supreme Court and naturally, the position was vacant. According to the law, we were obliged to convene a conference of judges and elect a member of the High Council of Justice.

Why Mr. Rezo transferred to the Constitutional Court, Mr. Rezo himself will probably tell you, but being a judge of the Constitutional Court is a very honorable position and, accordingly, he made that decision. The Plenum of the Supreme Court nominated him,” said Levan Murusidze.
