Ana Dolidze on the "MEGOBARI Act": A New Reality Will Soon Emerge – "Georgian Dream" Is in a Dead End

One of the leaders of the "For the People – Strong Georgia" coalition, Ana Dolidze, has responded to the adoption of the "MEGOBARI Act" and stated that "Georgian Dream" is in a dead end.

Dolidze made the comment on social media.

"Friends, congratulations – the U.S. House of Representatives has passed the MEGOBARI Act with a bipartisan majority. Now we await the Senate. A new reality will soon emerge. Georgian Dream is in a dead end," wrote Ana Dolidze.

For context, the U.S. House of Representatives has supported the "MEGOBARI Act." The bill, titled the Mobilizing and Enhancing Georgia’s Options for Building Accountability, Resilience, and Independence Act (MEGOBARI), was backed by 349 members of Congress, while 42 voted against it.

The bill must now be approved by the U.S. Senate.

To recall, the "MEGOBARI Act" was initially introduced in the House of Representatives last year by Congressman Joe Wilson. This year, it was reintroduced in the 119th Congress by Congressman Steve Cohen [Democratic Party], together with Congressman Richard Hudson [Republican Party] and Congressman Marc Veasey [Democratic Party].

According to the congressmen, the MEGOBARI Act expresses support for the Georgian people and, among other things, provides for sanctions against Georgian officials for human rights violations and for undermining democracy.
