The Ministry of Internal Affairs has arrested one person on charges of human trafficking. According to the agency, the crime is punishable by up to 12 years of imprisonment.
"Employees of the Anti-Trafficking and Illegal Migration Division of the Central Criminal Police Department's Main Division for Combating Organized Crime, in cooperation with the General Prosecutor's Office, arrested M.F., born in 1993 and previously convicted of various crimes, on charges of trafficking as a result of joint operative and investigative activities.
The offense is punishable by up to 12 years of imprisonment.
An intensive investigation, including covert investigative actions based on a judge’s warrant, revealed that for financial gain, the accused used psychological violence and threats to force L.K., born in 1963, to engage in sexual acts with various individuals in exchange for payment.
The investigation also determined that the accused kept part of the money obtained through this activity.
The investigation is ongoing under Article 143¹, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the statement said.
