Russian President Vladimir Putin, along with the leaders of 9 other countries, congratulated the people of Georgia and Moldova on Victory Day, according to Russian media citing the Kremlin press service.
"In his message to the Georgian and Moldovan peoples, Vladimir Putin urged them to preserve the traditions of friendship and mutual assistance passed down to us, to not forget our shared historical heritage, and to prevent the sowing of discord between friendly nations," the Kremlin statement said.
Additionally, the Kremlin reports that President Vladimir Putin also extended congratulations on the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II to the so-called leaders of the occupied Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
"On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, the President of Russia sent congratulatory letters to the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and Israel, as well as to the peoples of Georgia and Moldova," the statement notes.
