Gia Volski, the First Vice Speaker of the Parliament, responded to a statement made by the German Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, who said that the “deep state” does not exist. According to Volski, the ambassador knows very well that the deep state exists and is himself involved in it as a small cog in a broader system of governance.
“He knows exactly that the deep state exists, and of course, there is a certain system of governance in which he himself is involved as one of the small cogs. Even the new administration of the United States confirms the existence of the deep state. This is not a new phenomenon—the deep state has existed and operated for years, it has its own interests, and this is not surprising to anyone, except for those who believe the deep state's actions toward them are unjust.
Georgia is one of the targets of this injustice. The German ambassador speaks of sanctions, while at the same time, not only are there no sanctions [against others], but billions in aid are being provided to the new government of Syria—even though he knows how much blood has been shed on the streets of Syria since that government came to power.
What’s more, people are being invited to Germany in order to resolve the issue of low birth rates. This is not just a double standard—this is a specific political plan with defined goals and objectives,” said Volski.
For context, Peter Fischer told Interpressnews that the “deep state” does not exist and is a fictional concept:
“We are definitely not a ‘deep state’—it does not exist. It is made up. And if anyone can show me the deep state, I would be very interested to see it,” Fischer stated.
