The moral of May 9 is that we are a country of heroes and always stand on the right side. But in Europe, not everything is always right. The fact that fascism was born and flourished in the heart of Europe shows us once again that the compass of truth is not geography, the compass of truth is the choice between good and evil, truth and lies, peace and war, - the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Nino Tsilosani, said in her speech at the plenary session.
According to her, fascism was born in the bosom of Europe, and Georgia fought against everything wrong then, just like today.
"We are talking about another attempt to rewrite history, which our opposing radicals had on May 9, this year as well. May 9 is the day of victory over fascism and once again reminds us that, unfortunately, this great evil was born in the bosom of Europe and fortunately, Georgia fought against everything wrong then, just like today. While a number of European countries opened their doors to the fascists without war, and in many countries, on the contrary, fascist ideology found fertile ground, Georgia sacrificed about 400 thousand people, our heroic fighters, to the struggle against the torture of the people, hatred and conquest of the world. And those who survived, our grandfathers, recalled the most difficult stories they brought back from the front, but the victors do not complain about what they have endured, on the contrary, they celebrate. And they wanted to suppress this celebration, sometimes by moving May 9 to May 8, sometimes by overshadowing the Victory Day over Fascism with other activities. This year, on May 9, we saw the absolute majority of our society celebrating our great victory over fascist Germany, and another small part was busy celebrating Europe Day.
The moral of May 9 is that we are a country of heroes and we always stand on the right side. But not everything is always right in Europe. The fact that fascism was born and flourished in the heart of Europe shows us once again that the compass of truth is not geography, the compass of truth is the choice between good and evil, truth and lies, peace and war. The moral of May 9 reminds us that we are truly a country of heroes and our struggle has historically always been for the truth, and while our struggle against neo-fascism and the suppression of truth is still winnable today, fascism can never be established in Georgia, because Georgian and Christian principles are intertwined, and this is what shows us the church and the right path," said Nino Tsilosani.
