With 80 votes, unanimously - the Parliament approved a package of legislative amendments related to the banning of political parties.
The planned amendments to the laws "On Political Unions of Citizens" and "On the Constitutional Court" were adopted today in the third reading.
According to the draft, the Constitutional Court will be able to ban a party the declared purpose, essence of activity and personnel composition of which repeat the declared purpose, essence of activity and personnel composition of a party already banned by the court.
In addition, according to the draft initially initiated in the Parliament, the term for issuing a decision on a lawsuit related to the constitutionality of a party should not have exceeded 9 months from the filing of the lawsuit, and during the election period - 14 days.
During the discussion process, the mentioned deadline was adjusted - according to the final version of the draft law, the Constitutional Court will make a decision within 14 days, both during the election and non-election periods.
