Zura Japaridze: All evil gathers in the court – this is where you can most clearly see where you live

Under such a regime, all evil gathers in the court. In my opinion, seeing this every day is important for every citizen. You don’t have to be called a politician to truly see where you live — this is where it’s most clearly visible,” said Zura “Girchi” Japaridze, one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change,” speaking to journalists at Tbilisi City Court, where the trial of detained protesters is taking place.

According to Zura Japaridze, it is important for people to observe what is happening in the courts.

“Standing in solidarity with those who are currently held captive by the regime is the very least one can do in the reality we live in. Of course, we don’t expect anything optimistic from this court, but I believe it’s important to observe what goes on here. The court is supposed to be the place where truth and lies are distinguished — in a normal country. But under this kind of regime, all evil concentrates here, and I believe it’s important for every citizen to see this daily. You don’t need to be a politician to understand where you actually live — it’s most clearly visible here,” said Japaridze.

In addition, Zura Japaridze spoke about ongoing meetings with Paata Burchuladze involving members of the third sector and opposition parties.

“In my view, these gatherings are very good — many people are participating, the number is growing, more and more people are joining, and many ideas are being discussed. One of the ideas that was considered early on and is now being reconsidered is the idea that, ultimately, we should hold elections ourselves — that’s still under discussion. Besides this, there are other ideas as well. The main point is that there should be a united campaign that brings together all those who are against the regime today. The goal is to gather these people together and, once united, to take action. One version of this could be that yes, we hold elections ourselves and show where the real majority lies — but other ideas are also being discussed,” Japaridze stated.
