Redness is not an objective sign of injury — I don’t remember whether [Irakli Dgebuadze] had any redness at the time. Even if he did, I don’t think I would have included it in the report, because redness is not an objective sign of injury, said Givi Chkhartishvili, a medical expert from the Adjara Regional Forensic Department, who is being questioned as a witness in the case involving Mzia Amaghlobeli, the founder of Netgazeti and Batumelebi.
According to him, during the forensic medical examination of Irakli Dgebuadze, no visible, objective signs of mechanical injury were observed on areas of the body uncovered by clothing.
“A visual examination of Irakli Dgebuadze’s body was conducted, and a forensic report was issued stating that no objective signs of mechanical injury were observed on the exposed parts of his body during the forensic medical examination. On the same day, January 12, Mzia Amaghlobeli also underwent a forensic medical examination. A visual examination of her body was conducted, based on which a report was issued indicating that she had bruises in the area of her left shoulder.
As for Irakli Dgebuadze’s examination, redness is not an objective sign of injury and therefore is not subject to my assessment. My task is to evaluate actual, objective signs of injury. In this specific case, since the person had no such signs, an appropriate conclusion was made. Whether he had redness at the time — I do not remember. Even if he did, I don’t think I would have noted it in the report, because redness is not considered an objective indicator of injury,” said Givi Chkhartishvili.
Mzia Amaghlobeli’s court hearing is taking place amid public outcry. Citizens are chanting: “No justice, no peace” and “Freedom for Mzia!”
