The prosecutor's office and the court specifically refused to interrogate as witnesses the people who demanded my criminal liability - this interrogation will once again reveal how the rule of law has been trampled, - one of the leaders of Lelo - Strong Georgia, Badri Japaridze, said after the end of the court session.
According to him, the temporary investigative commission created in the parliament not only violates the requirements of the constitution, but is also directly used for political revenge.
"I am very pleased that this session is recorded and the public will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the course and content of this session. This is a clear example of how the rule of law can be trampled, the prosecutor's office and the judiciary are absolutely subject to political will. I will tell you frankly, it does not require legal knowledge to understand that Article 42 of the Constitution defines the procedure for forming an investigative commission, where it is written clearly that at least 50% of the investigative commission must consist of members of opposition parties. We see that this investigative commission not only violates the requirements of the Constitution, but is also directly used for political revenge. The Constitution defined this imperative requirement so that one party would not use the investigative commission for political revenge against its opponents, and we are now observing the use of the so-called investigative commission for political revenge against political opponents. The requirement of Article 42 of the Constitution has been violated, the decision-making procedure of the commission itself has been violated, that is, the illegal commission made an illegal decision. This was directly indicated to the investigative commission, at the same time, it was requested to interrogate as witnesses the people who demanded my criminal liability, that is, those who complained to the prosecutor's office, but the prosecutor's office refused to interrogate these people, and accordingly, the court did too. Why?! The answer is simple. Because it is very important to bring them as witnesses. This interrogation will reveal once again how the rule of law has been trampled, but the prosecutor's office does not specifically summon these people as witnesses, and the court also satisfied this request of the prosecutor's office. So we have all possible violations that could be committed," Japaridze said.
