The extradition of individuals wanted for the crime of trafficking committed by a transnational criminal group from Georgia to the French Republic has been carried out.
The information was released by the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia.
"These individuals were arrested on Georgian territory by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia as a result of effective cooperation between the Georgian and French sides.
The extradited individuals had been wanted by the competent authorities of the French Republic since 2024 through an Interpol Red Notice. The investigation conducted by the French side revealed that within a transnational organized group operating under the guise of 'Tantra Yoga'—whose goal was human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation—the leaders of one of its divisions participated in the transportation of at least seven individuals to the French Republic and in their sexual exploitation.
Based on motions filed by the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, the extradition of these individuals to the French Republic was deemed admissible by all instances of the court.
On April 16, 2025, the Minister of Justice of Georgia made the final decision to extradite these individuals to the French Republic, after which the wanted persons were handed over to representatives of the competent authorities of the French Republic by the staff of the Special Penitentiary Service.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia expresses its readiness to continue cooperating successfully with the competent authorities of other countries in order to bring wanted individuals to justice," the statement reads.
