Ana Dolidze: The Special State Protection Service must be held accountable regarding the attack on the German Ambassador

Ana Dolidze, one of the leaders of the For the People – Strong Georgia coalition, places responsibility for the attack on German Ambassador Peter Fischer on the Special State Protection Service.

Ana Dolidze made a relevant statement regarding the attack on the German ambassador via social media.

“According to international law, the host state must ensure the security of an ambassador. Therefore, an attack on an ambassador represents a failure on the part of the host state — in this case, the Georgian state.

Responsibility for the attack on the German ambassador lies with the Special State Protection Service,” wrote Ana Dolidze on Facebook.

For reference, according to media reports, on May 18 in Batumi, a citizen named Valeri Kochiashvili verbally assaulted Peter Fischer.

“The Embassy confirms the incident and thanks the Georgians who witnessed it and supported the ambassador in this situation, as a guest in their city. Once those present pointed out the inappropriateness of Mr. Kochiashvili’s behavior, he quickly left the scene. The police were not present at the time,” the German Embassy told Formula.
