Aleko Elisashvili on Zurab Japaridze’s Court Hearing: Hundreds and thousands of police officers were deployed to arrest one man – We are seeing a frightened Government with shaking knees

"We are seeing a frightened government with shaking knees. Hundreds and thousands of police officers were deployed just to arrest one man," — said Aleko Elisashvili, one of the leaders of the “Lelo – Strong Georgia” coalition, while speaking to journalists.

According to him, citizens have gathered near the City Court to support Zurab Japaridze.

“Given the massive police mobilization and the thousands of officers deployed, it’s highly likely that they are planning to arrest him. But what they clearly failed to calculate is that this is a huge mistake — the government has badly stumbled.

First, members of our coalition slapped them politically by refusing to attend the parliamentary commission. Then [former Defense Minister] Okruashvili added a blow by defying them. And now, Zurab Japaridze, who does not bow his head.

What we are witnessing is a terrified government with trembling knees. They’ve deployed hundreds and thousands of police officers just to arrest one man,” said Aleko Elisashvili.
