Norway’s Ambassador to Georgia, Bergljot Hovland, says Georgia stands at a troubling crossroads.

The Ambassado, in the context of the arrest of Zurab Japaridze, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, and the “repressive laws” related to political parties, emphasizes that “assault on democracy” are unacceptable.

“Norway is deeply concerned by the Georgian authorities’ crackdown on the opposition, including arrests of opposition leaders like Zurab Japaridze, and repressive laws to ban political parties. This assault on democracy is unacceptable. Georgia stands at a troubling crossroads”, she wrote on X.
