Today, "Georgian Dream" did not have a quorum to hold elections for the new chairperson of the Tbilisi City Council, and Mikheil Kakauridze, who is represented under the name of "Lelo", stepped in as a rescue ring – this was written by "Gakharia For Georgia" member Tata Khvedeliani on social media.
She hopes to hear "Lelo’s" position on whether it shares Mikheil Kakauridze's move and whether he represents the party’s stance today.
According to her information, only 25 deputies attended the session, and it was Kakauridze who created the quorum.
“Today, ‘Georgian Dream’ did not have a quorum to hold elections for the new chairperson of the Tbilisi City Council. Instead of 26 deputies, only 25 showed up, and at that moment, Mikheil Kakauridze emerged as the rescue ring for ‘Dream’, who in the past was a member of the ‘United National Movement’, and today is represented under the name of ‘Lelo’.
In the place where protests have been the most intense these months, where there are 53 political prisoners and more than 400 citizens who have become victims of ‘Dream’s’ violent actions – deputy Kakauridze’s decision was to support ‘Georgian Dream’.
The public has yet to hear ‘Lelo’s’ official stance – whether it shares Mikheil Kakauridze’s move and whether it represents the party’s position today. I hope we hear from them soon.
I also hope the media does not leave this issue uncovered. So far, I haven’t seen this news anywhere,” writes Tata Khvedeliani.
Zurab Abashidze was appointed chairperson of the Tbilisi City Council. The vote was held at today’s City Council session, and Zurab Abashidze was supported by 26 members of the council.
The position of chairperson of the Tbilisi City Council became vacant after Giorgi Tkemaladze took up the post of Tbilisi Deputy Mayor.
