Employees of the Investigation Main Division and the Detective (Operative) Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the operative measures and investigative actions carried out, have arrested one person on charges of a drug-related crime.

The information was released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"G.M., born in 1987, has been arrested on charges of the illegal acquisition, storage, and sale of a large quantity of narcotic substances. The crime carries a sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment. The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out multiple covert investigative actions based on a judge's order, which established that the accused was selling narcotic substances. On the basis of the same judge’s order, the police conducted several controlled purchases of various types of narcotic substances, which were covertly audio and video recorded. During the search of the personal belongings and residence of G.M., the police seized a large quantity of various narcotic substances, including ‘cocaine’, ‘alpha-PVP’, and ‘clephedrone’. In addition, as part of the investigative actions, the police also seized materials needed for packaging narcotic substances, an electronic scale, and money believed to be the proceeds from drug sales.

The investigation is underway under Article 260, part 1; Article 260, part 2, subparagraph 'a'; and Article 260 prima, part 5, subparagraph 'a' of the Criminal Code," the statement said.
