Preparations underway for Independence Day - in addition to Freedom Square, conscripts will take the military oath at five more historical places across the country

Preparations for the Independence Day event at Freedom Square continue, the Ministry of Defense reports.

According to the agency, a dress rehearsal was held at Freedom Square today. In addition to Freedom Square, conscripts will take the oath at five more historical sites across the country. On May 26, traditionally, the population will have the opportunity to view military vehicles, weapons and equipment in 21 cities and municipalities.

“The rehearsal was attended by Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Defense Irakli Chikovani, First Deputy Minister Paata Patiashvili and senior officials of the Defense Forces.

Preparations for the ceremonial military event were led by the Commander of the Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Giorgi Matiashvili. The heads of various commands of the Defense Forces were present, who, together with the director, summarized the final details.

In addition to the personnel of the Defense Forces, the rehearsal was attended by the recruits of the National Military Service of Conscripts, who will take the military oath in a solemn atmosphere on May 26 and join the Defense Forces. In addition to Freedom Square, conscripts will take the oath in five more historical places across the country.

On May 26, traditionally, the population will have the opportunity to view military equipment, weapons and equipment in 21 cities and municipalities. Exhibitions will be held in Tbilisi, Gori, Akhaltsikhe, Mtskheta, Rustavi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti, Poti, Khoni, Ambrolauri, Batumi, Telavi, Akhalkalaki, Marneuli, Senaki, Samtredia, Bagdati, Chkhorotskhu, Abasha and Martvili.
