There will always be threats facing our country that require an appropriate response. Once and for all, we must realize how pointless it is to wait for some foreign power to come and save us, to do what we must do, and to know better what our people and our country need,” – Mikheil Kavelashvili stated in his speech dedicated to Independence Day.
As Mikheil Kavelashvili noted, Georgia determines its own future, and no one else.
“We must completely believe in ourselves and remember that it is precisely we who determine our own future, and no one else. If it weren’t for the strength and wisdom of the Georgian people during very difficult and dangerous times for the country, only the government’s prudent and effective policies would not have been enough. I want to thank every patriotic citizen of Georgia. Everyone who believed in the strength of their own country, who stood guard for the homeland, and who made an immense contribution to saving Georgia and maintaining peace. You should be proud of your dedication, wisdom, and loyalty. It is precisely because we seized a rare opportunity and united at a critical moment for our country, a moment that could define the coming decades, that through our unity and foresight, we successfully overcame the first stage of danger. I am confident that in just the same way, we will successfully lead Georgia to safety. You will agree that caring for the future of our country and our children requires constant movement and action. As the great Ilia once said: ‘Movement and only movement, my dear Tergi, is what gives strength and life to a country.’ The Georgian people were brought to the most glorious and proud era in our country’s history, the ‘Golden Age,’ precisely through constant movement, unceasing preparation for decisive moments, and tireless labor. The fact that today we have our own homeland, language, script, and faith is precisely because Georgians never stopped moving,” – Kavelashvili said.
As he noted, today words and foresight have immense power.
“Today, in the modern world, words and foresight have immense power, especially for a small country like ours. Our words, wisdom, and faith in ourselves are today our main weapons,” – Kavelashvili said.
