According to Levan Makharashvili, the lawyer of the former head of the Co-Investment Fund, Giorgi Bachiashvili has been transferred to Rustavi Penitentiary Institution No. 12.
According to the lawyer, he is now going to Rustavi himself to meet and talk to Bachiashvili.
“We have just learned that he is being held in Rustavi Penitentiary Institution No. 12. As for the reason, it is obviously unknown. In general, the head of the Penitentiary Department decides which institution to place a particular person based on various risks. Accordingly, I am going to Rustavi to meet and talk to him. I do not have any additional information at this time,” the lawyer said.
The State Security Service has detained Giorgi Bachiashvili.
"On May 26, 2025, an anonymous notification was received by the State Security Service, which revealed that Giorgi Bachiashvili, a dual citizen of Georgia and the Russian Federation, wanted and convicted under a red circular, was moving near the so-called green border section between Tsetili Khidi and Sadakhlo.
As a result of the investigative and operational-search measures taken, the above-mentioned person was detained.
The Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service is conducting the investigation under Part 1 of Article 344 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to illegal border crossing and provides for imprisonment for a term of three to five years.
