Some Georgian emigrants are asking the Baltic countries and the European Union to impose sanctions on the “false witnesses and other representatives of the repressive regime.” The information has been shared by a group of Georgian emigrants.
“Georgians living in the Baltic countries have sent an appeal to the foreign ministers of the Baltic countries. In this appeal, the Georgians are asking their Baltic partners to strengthen the sanctions policy. This time, the appeal includes a list of 200 people whom the signatories of the appeal are requesting to be sanctioned and about whom there is documented evidence of anti-humanitarian actions. This list includes representatives of the so-called law enforcement system, but in reality, representatives of the repressive regime: prosecutors, judges, investigators, SSG employees, police officers. The signatories of the appeal also place special emphasis on the so-called false witnesses and the importance of sanctioning them.
The appeal has also been sent to the EU leadership and the governments of other EU member states.
The initiator of the appeal is ‘Platform 2025.’ In Estonia, the appeal was sent with the initiative of the organization ‘Georgia’s House in Estonia.’ The database of individuals to be sanctioned, with corresponding descriptions and additional documentation, was prepared by the ‘Federalists’/Liberty Institute,” reads the appeal.
The appeal is signed by:
Davit Dzidzishvili, Brussels, Belgium, “Platform 2025”;
Elene Pantsulaia, Kaunas, Lithuania, “Platform 2025”;
Levan Gorelashvili, Tallinn, Estonia, “Georgia’s House in Tallinn”;
Koki Ionatamishvili, Riga, Latvia, “Platform 2025”;
Salome Khvadagiani, Tbilisi, Liberty Institute/“Federalists” party.
