Georgia’s leading international pharmaceutical company reinforces its commitment to public health.

In May, GM PHARMA – the leading and only international pharmaceutical company originating from Georgia – reaffirmed its dedication to community health by participating in the Global Hypertension Campaign. This initiative offered free medical consultations and diagnostic examinations to patients, underscoring the company’s ongoing commitment to public health and disease prevention.

About World Hypertension Day

World Hypertension Day, established in 2005 by the World Hypertension League (WHL), is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about high blood pressure – a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Globally, hypertension affects more than one billion people, many of whom are unaware they have the condition. The campaign seeks to educate the public about the dangers of untreated high blood pressure, stressing the need for regular monitoring and healthy lifestyle choices. Early detection is critical, given that hypertension often presents no symptoms until it leads to severe complications.

GM PHARMA’s Commitment and Campaign Activities

Each year, GM PHARMA actively supports World Hypertension Day by organizing free medical screenings and consultations. The company’s efforts aim to raise public awareness, encourage early diagnosis, and prevent complications related to hypertension. This year’s campaign was carried out in several phases across Georgia, in collaboration with partner clinics.

Screenings have already taken place in Rustavi, Telavi, Kutaisi, Mestia, and Gori. In Tbilisi, free consultations were provided at New Hospitals and the Chapidze Heart Center.

As an international company, GM PHARMA also conducted parallel initiatives in Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan and Tajikistan—further highlighting its commitment to global health.

As part of the campaign, Free Screening Services were provided and patients received professional medical evaluations and essential diagnostic services, free of charge, including:

  • Cardiologist consultations
  • Electrocardiography (ECG)
  • Echocardiography (when indicated)

GM PHARMA placed special emphasis on reaching socially vulnerable groups, including pensioners, veterans, persons with disabilities, and residents near the occupation line.

In alignment with the WHL’s mission, GM PHARMA was a dedicated advocate of the campaign’s core message: “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer!”

Levan Varduasvhili, CEO of GM PHARMA, highlighted the broader goals of the initiative:

“Hypertension is a major contributor to cardiovascular complications and is recognized as a chronic condition. GM PHARMA’s product portfolio includes over 10 medications that help patients manage hypertension effectively. These treatments are also part of the government’s program to provide access to essential medications for chronic illnesses.

Our priority during this campaign was to reach socially vulnerable populations—pensioners, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and residents of villages near the occupation line. We believe in promoting early diagnosis and public awareness to prevent long-term complications.”

He also added:

“Our mission extends beyond treatment. Our R&D laboratory is actively developing new pharmaceutical products, including new anti-hypertensive therapies. Soon, we plan to introduce these treatments to both local and international markets. The health and well-being of people remain at the core of everything we do.”

This year marks a significant milestone for GM PHARMA as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. Over the past quarter-century, GM PHARMA has grown into a globally recognized company, consistently demonstrating leadership within the pharmaceutical industry and commitment towards better public health. Today, it stands as Georgia’s foremost pharmaceutical leader, internationally acknowledged for quality and excellence. Notably, cardiovascular products remain the largest and most diverse group within GM PHARMA’s broad portfolio.

“GM PHARMA – Serving Those Who Need It Most.”
