Wearing a police uniform means not only fulfilling the assigned duty, but also realizing the greatest responsibility - raising a hand against a police officer means attacking a state institution, - this is how Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze addressed police officers at an event dedicated to Police Officer's Day.
He congratulated the law enforcement officers on their professional day.
“It is a great honor to congratulate you, our heroic and tireless police officers, on your professional day! You are people whose daily work, often at the risk of your own lives, is to protect the country and citizens. Wearing a police uniform means not only fulfilling the assigned duty, but also realizing the great responsibility of being on guard of the country's security, protecting human rights and enforcing law and order. Police officers, firefighters, border guards, everyone who stand guard over the state 24 hours a day, need decent working conditions. Raising a hand against a police officer means attacking a state institution,” said Kakha Kaladze.
He also thanked Vakhtang Gomelauri for his work and wished the new minister success.
"On Police Day, I congratulate each employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - everyone who, even at this moment, is protecting the country's security, peace and creating a safe environment for citizens; I congratulate the new Minister of Internal Affairs, because leading this direction requires special efforts; I sincerely thank the former head of the department, Vakhtang Gomelauri, who has prevented numerous coup attempts in recent years and made a special contribution to maintaining peace.
Here, I bow my head to the police officers who died while performing their duties. Thank you for your worthy service to the country," Kakha Kaladze noted.
