The Public Defender of Georgia congratulates children on International Children's Day.
According to their statement, to mark this day, on May 29, an event titled “The Voice of Children Matters” was held in Gori, organized by the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia within the framework of the EU project “Support to the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia” and with the involvement of state agencies, the Gori Municipality, and local civil society organizations.
“June 1 is International Children’s Day. This day serves to highlight the importance of children’s rights worldwide, to emphasize the responsibility of the state, society, and every individual in creating a safe environment for children, supporting their development, and ensuring their well-being.
To mark this day, on May 29, the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia organized an event titled “The Voice of Children Matters” in Gori, within the framework of the EU project “Support to the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia” and with the involvement of state agencies, the Gori Municipality, and local civil society organizations.
The event aimed to raise awareness among local minors about children’s rights, to listen to their opinions, and to promote their participation.
Staff of the Public Defender’s Office and an invited expert discussed with children important topics such as freedom of expression, equality, emotional well-being, living in a safe environment, relations with the police, the importance of human rights education, and more.
