The Bolnisi Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Wine Festival was held in the German District of Bolnisi.
This marks the third time Georgia has hosted the festival of PDO Wines, and it is linked with the traditional slogan: Bolnisi - the City of Golden Wine.
Approximately 60 wineries from across Georgia participated in the event. These included large producers, small and medium-sized enterprises, and family-owned wineries - each producing wines recognized with the PDO signage.
As part of the festival, a wine contest took place on May 17th, at the Georgian-German Wine House. The winners were announced in a celebratory atmosphere during the festival. This year, 138 wine samples from 20 PDOs were evaluated by a jury through a blind tasting process. A total of 26 wines received Bronze awards, 14 were awarded Silver, and 19 wines received Gold medals. Among the winners were six wineries from Bolnisi - all members of the Wine Bolnisi Association, collectively earning 6 Gold, 6 Silver, and 9 Bronze medals.
The Bolnisi Wine Festival attracted special guests from Italy and other European countries, including wine importers, wine experts and bloggers, and tourism industry representatives.
The festival was presented by RMG (Rich Metals Group), with support from the Wine Bolnisi Association, Bolnisi Municipality City Hall, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the National Wine Agency, National Intellectual Property Center Sakpatenti, and Bolnisi Agrocenter.

The Bolnisi Winemakers Support Program contributes to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), with the Bolnisi PDO Wine Festival being one of the program’s key success projects.
