Nika Melia's lawyer: Nika greeted yet another absurd charge with a smile — he doesn’t even care how many ridiculous accusations the regime throws at him

Nika Melia met yet another absurd charge with a smile. To be honest, he doesn't even care how many ridiculous accusations the regime throws at him,” said Beka Kviniqadze, lawyer of Nika Melia, one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change,” after visiting him at Rustavi’s 12th Penitentiary Facility.

According to Kviniqadze, Nika Melia still doesn’t have his prison card issued and is unable to purchase a television or other basic items.

“He met the latest absurd charge with a smile. Honestly, he doesn’t care how many absurd accusations the regime brings against him, so we didn’t even spend much time discussing it.

We don’t know when they will decide to officially press charges. One of the issues is the lack of access to information — at the moment, he still doesn’t have his card and can’t purchase a TV or other items,” the lawyer noted.

For context, an investigation has been launched against Nika Melia, one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change,” after he splashed water on Judge Irakli Shvangiradze during a court hearing. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the investigation has been initiated under Article 366 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to contempt of court.

This article provides for penalties including a fine, community service, or up to one year of imprisonment.
