Alejandro Hajdenberg: Despite recent events, Georgia, like the global economy, is operating under conditions of particularly high uncertainty, although the risks that Georgia faces pose certain challenges

There was pressure locally, I mean the political situation, and the re-imposition of sanctions could affect the economic situation, - said IMF Mission Chief Alejandro Hajdenberg.

As he noted, Georgia, like the global economy, exists in conditions of particularly high uncertainty.

"Despite recent events, Georgia, like the global economy, is operating under conditions of particularly high uncertainty, although the risks that Georgia faces pose certain challenges. At the same time, they also pose opportunities and possibilities. I will highlight several risks in relation to Georgia, which arise from global trade pressures, from the war in Ukraine by Russia, and from the economic conditions that exist globally. Their impact on Georgia will be the following - if new sanctions materialize, they may affect Georgia. There was pressure locally, I mean the political situation, and the re-emergence of sanctions may affect the economic situation. A good sign is that Georgia has very strong buffers in terms of fiscal space and in terms of the health of the financial system, these risks will be overcome," said Alejandro Hajdenberg.
