Even if there is a direct call to participate in the local elections, the Coalition does not intend to enter into a campaign that is rigged in advance and damaging to the homeland, - Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, says in his Facebook post.

As Gvaramia writes, he agrees with the fact that the opposition should use the local elections as a chance for unity, however, he explains that this unity should be expressed in a boycott of the local elections.

According to him, the European Parliament resolution clearly states that local elections should be held under the following conditions.

“This is a lie, my friends. In fact, the same and other articles of the report clearly state that local elections should be held under the following conditions:

Improved electoral environment;

Impartial election administration;

Ensuring full-fledged international and local monitoring;

Implementation of the recommendations of the Venice Commission.

I fully agree that the opposition should use the local elections as a chance for unity. However, this should be expressed in a complete boycott and non-participation until the above conditions are not met. Added to this is our firm decision to hold new parliamentary elections and release political prisoners.

None of these conditions have been met at the moment; on the contrary, the electoral environment has worsened.

I would like to say here that I wish this section of the report were clearer so that even a conscientious reader and translator from English would not be given the opportunity for double interpretation.

I would also add here that on the issue of participation in the local elections "Even if there were a direct call for participation (and there really isn't), the Coalition is fully formed on this issue and does not intend to join a pre-rigged and damaging campaign against the homeland," Gvaramia writes on the social network.
