Ministry of Education: The circulated information claiming that the Inclusive Education Department was abolished is not true - the Strategic Planning and Inclusive Development Department has been merged

According to a statement from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, the circulated information suggesting that the Inclusive Education Department was abolished does not correspond to the truth.

The ministry’s statement notes that, to optimize its structure and increase efficiency, the Strategic Planning and Inclusive Development Department has been merged. As a result, the previously existing Inclusive Development Department has been given greater strategic importance.

“We would like to inform you that, since 2024, the functions of the Public Legal Entity Mandate Service of Educational Institutions have been expanded to include a component of inclusive education. The Mandate Service now operates a Center for Supporting Inclusive and Special Education, which is intensively working on current and new services to support inclusive education, aiming to further increase access to education for individuals with special educational needs and improve the quality of education.

One of the main priorities of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia is the development of an inclusive education system. This is evidenced by the Unified National Strategy for Education and Science for 2022–2030.

The ministry actively continues and further strengthens its efforts to develop inclusive education and implement significant projects in this direction,” the statement reads.
