"Everything is just a formality – the decisions have already been made! Under the current regime, there is violence and lawlessness," – said Giorgi Vashadze, the leader of Strategy Aghmashenebeli, upon arriving at court. He is among the politicians who have been charged for failing to appear before the parliamentary temporary investigative commission.
Vashadze expects that the prosecution will request pretrial detention and that the court will approve the prosecutor's request.
He said that imprisonment does not scare him and that he fully understands the consequences.
Vashadze also stated today that “tomorrow and the day after, it will be possible to restore justice.”
“We are ready for everything. We are not only refusing to back down, we intend to win together with the people so that Georgia becomes a member of the European Union and strong among the strong.
Most likely, I will have to spend some time in a detention facility, but when it comes to loyalty to your homeland and your principles, of course, that cannot make you back down,” said Giorgi Vashadze.
