During his visit to Milan, Italy, the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, met today with the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, and Vice President Raffaele Cattaneo.

According to the Tbilisi City Hall, the parties discussed Georgia–Italy relations, prospects for cooperation, and ongoing and future joint projects.

They also reported that during the meeting, Kakha Kaladze emphasized that Milan is like a hometown to him, as he lived there for many years, and he expressed his willingness to use every available resource to further deepen relations between Tbilisi and Milan.

"I would like to thank you for the warm and friendly meeting. It is a great honor for me to be in Italy, in Milan, a city that feels like home to me. There is great potential to deepen cooperation between our cities in areas such as culture, tourism, greening and urban planning, waste management, transportation, and more. As the Mayor of Tbilisi, I am ready to fully support the strengthening of our relations. The Lombardy Region plays a crucial role in the development of Italy’s economy. I would like to invite you to Tbilisi, together with the local business sector. Tbilisi, and Georgia in general, is a very attractive and favorable place for business. I believe cooperation in this direction would be beneficial for both countries," said Kakha Kaladze.

President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, thanked Kakha Kaladze for his visit and expressed hope that he would soon visit Tbilisi with a business delegation.

"We are very pleased with today’s meeting with the Mayor of Tbilisi. We are glad that the Georgian Consulate has opened in Milan, and we have already established working relations with it. As you know, Lombardy is one of the most important regions in Italy and in Europe, with a highly developed economy, agriculture, and industry. Therefore, we wish to deepen our relationship with Georgia and Tbilisi. Today, we received a proposal from the Mayor of Tbilisi to work on a potential business delegation visit from Lombardy to Tbilisi. It is important to prearrange topics of mutual interest to ensure the visit is productive. So, we express our readiness to work on this matter," said Attilio Fontana.

Georgia's Consul General in Milan, Natalia Kordzaia, also attended the meeting.
