The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is neither a non-governmental organization nor a branch of an international organization, so we do not need to consult with anyone to know what our country needs and what type of foreign ministry we need to effectively implement our national interests in the foreign arena, - Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili stated in a conversation with journalists.

According to the minister, the reorganization is a process that is needed to protect the national interests of our country, to strengthen our foreign ministry, "therefore, any criticism regarding this process is inappropriate."

“The goal of the changes is to make the Ministry of Foreign Affairs more effective and to better represent and defend our national interests abroad in this changing world. For this, we need an effective apparatus that will be on the ground in Tbilisi and embassies that will operate in the capitals. This, of course, requires more efficient use of existing resources and, of course, the creation of a system that will provide the younger generation with a good opportunity to enter the state service in a competitive environment and serve their homeland,” said Maka Botchorishvili.

In addition, Botchorishvili spoke about the government’s nomination of Tamar Taliashvili for the position of Georgian Ambassador to the United States, noting that she will be a successful ambassador and make a significant contribution to the improvement of relations between Georgia and the United States.

“It is very important when an ambassador represents a country in a specific country, and in this case in the United States. I am sure that she will be a very successful ambassador and will make a significant contribution to the improvement of relations between Georgia and the United States,” said Maka Botchorishvili.

As the head of the diplomatic mission noted, Georgia received a consent from the United States on June 4, which allows the ambassador to arrive in Washington as soon as possible and begin working on important issues of relations between Georgia and the United States.

"Sending and appointing an ambassador to a country is a very important thing in relations between two countries. The process related to the appointment of Tamar Taliashvili has been completed. On June 4, we finally received a letter of consent from the United States of America, which gives us the opportunity to have the ambassador arrive in Washington as soon as possible and she begin working on important issues of relations between Georgia and America. This is, of course, very important. The issuance of consent from the American side is also a joy for us, because the candidate we nominated and offered was acceptable to them and has been approved. Of course, this is once again a good moment to look at relations between Georgia and the United States with new eyes, from a new page," Maka Bochorishvili noted.
