Parliament has elected former Prosecutor General Giorgi Gabitashvili to the position of General Auditor

Former Prosecutor General Giorgi Gabitashvili has been elected to the position of General Auditor – his candidacy for the new post was supported by 84 Members of Parliament.

According to the law, the new General Auditor is elected for a term of five years.

The position was previously held by Tsotne Kavelashvili, who resigned before the end of his term based on a personal statement. Kavelashvili has returned to the Ministry of Finance as Deputy Minister.
